It seems that the most popular list of human needs comes to us from the late economist Abraham Maslow. His hierarchical list is useful for marketing purposes but it is not very helpful to those searching for health wellness. Maslow’s theory, summarized and paraphrased: If person A holds belief A, then he or she is likely to purchase product group A.
But human beings were living long before Maslow, long before the invention of products or money. The true human needs are the ones that every human being requires, regardless of gender, nationality, belief or socioeconomic status.
I spent many years trying to determine which are the real human needs. It seems there are only nine things that we all need. All are available freely from nature. Sure, you may choose to buy your food from the market, for convenience, but nature provides free food for all its inhabitants, in areas not yet commercialized. Vida Lotus is not against development. Vida Lotus seeks to share the information that will empower you to live your life to the fullest, by creating the healthiest version of you and your family.
Here are the nine things we all need to survive and thrive:
– to love
– to be wiggly
– to breathe clean air, deeply
– to take in the sun
– to bathe in natural water
– to eat organic fruit
– to detoxify
– to dream
– to meditate

Anyone that has visited Vida Lotus headquarters in Limon, Panama, has certainly enjoyed hearing this track. It’s the all time favourite musical piece of our founder. It was composed and performed by our founder’s dear friend, the late great Chris Bendo on his solo album, Bonzz. This heavenly melody comes in right at the most relaxing part of our healing sessions, helping our patients to feel the divine love that makes such blissful harmonies possible.
In the short videos below, you can see how to stop a migraine attack in 5-10 minutes without tools or medication. The first video has voice over instructions. Watch it first. The second video is useful if you’d like to watch the techniques while listening to soft music only, with no instructions.
The human body is capable of lethal force. This page is about self-defence. It is always best to avoid fighting. If you are ever required to fight, you had better be well-trained first.
Our founder trained for more than two decades, along with world-champion mixed martial artists, under Grand Master Albert Mady. Visitors to our center can learn basic self-defense training from our founder but are encouraged to seek training directly from Grand Master Mady if possible.
In a streetfight, you don’t get to wear pads, and there is no referee to keep things fair, nor cage to hold back extra attackers. Grappling is a spectator sport, next to useless in self-defence. Grand Master Mady teaches that it is best to learn to protect yourself without pads or gloves, and without gimmicks like rings and cages. He teaches the use of a Makiwara board, AKA a punching stick. Using the Makiwara board you learn to punch perfectly every time. One correct punch can save you from harm. One incorrect punch can break your own hand. Only after mastering the punching stick should one attempt to punch a sand-filled heavy bag as shown in the video above. Beginners should always seek training before attempting any martial arts moves.
Everything in the Universe is either hard, soft, or wiggly. Hard and soft are simple and straightforward concepts that will scarcely be discussed here. This book is all about the wonders of wiggly.
Nothing is permanently hard or soft. If your energy becomes blocked, you stop moving and you appear hard. But you’re not hard. Your essence is wiggly. The apparent hardness is an illness. Wiggliness is wellness.
Wiggly is dynamic. It combines the benefits of hard and soft with the power to switch between the two extremes repeatedly, rhythmically. Wiggly is the water that penetrates the rock.
Wiggliness is power. It can heal physical, mental and emotional wounds. When you get wiggly, fear defaults to love. Warring nations can become friends.
What is Wiggly?
In nature and in technology, lots of things are wiggly. Water is wiggly. This is particularly evident as it wiggles down streams and rivers. Lakes and oceans are topped with wiggly waves.
Worms and snakes are wiggly. But don’t hate wiggly yet! Fish and dolphins are just as wiggly. And your best friend is wiggly too! That furry little pooch that adores you in every way… doesn’t he wag, er, wiggle his tail at the sheer joy of seeing you?
Your garden hose is wiggly. So are all those little hoses inside you… the ones that carry blood to every cell of your body and allow you to stay alive.
Babies are wiggly. (And healthy adults too.) Before you were born, you were a wiggly fetus, and before that, a wiggly sperm. Yes indeed, you were the wiggliest of 280 million cells. Your wiggliness propelled you to your goal. Without it, you could not exist.
Sound waves and light waves: nothing more than wigglers. Just about everything in the Universe wiggles. And it seems that more wiggle equals more life.
The above is the introduction to Get Wiggly: Eliminate migraines, headaches, insomnia and improve your overall health!, a book by Michael Ducharme. It is available at Amazon.com. You can visit www.getwiggly.com for more information.
Everything in the Universe is either hard, soft, or wiggly. After reading this little book, you and your family will understand that it is best to be wiggly.
You were born wiggly. In fact you were even wigglier before then. If you are still wiggly as you read this, you should learn how to stay wiggly. If you are not presently wiggly, you need to get wiggly.
Wellness is the natural, loving, joyful state of being. Wellness is your birthright. It is freedom from every kind of illness: physical, mental and emotional. Wellness is within your reach, and even easy to attain.
Wiggly is a book by Michael Ducharme, available at Amazon.com in paperback, hardcover and e-book.
The practice of bathing with heat dates back to the stone age, roughly 2,000 B.C. and became popular worldwide under different names. The Chinese called their heated caves “bath houses”, the Native Americans called their heated tents “sweat lodges” while the Finns built wooden rooms they called “saunas”.
In Finland today, there are more saunas than cars. This may be the best explanation for why Finland is often ranked the happiest country in the world, and one of the healthiest, despite its decidedly unwelcoming climate. (more…)
The Ducharme Method for rapid relief of migraines, headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression and a myriad physical, mental and emotional conditions.
The results from this short treatment will amaze you.
This method will alleviate most migraines in 5 minutes.
Before beginning this treatment, ask the patient to rate her pain from 0-10. If it is a full blown migraine, the pain level will always be 10. Spend about one minute on each of the five moves shown in the video. Then, ask the patient to rate her pain again. In most cases, the pain will have reduced by half or may be completely gone. Repeat the five moves in the video until the pain is completely gone.
I developed these techniques and have used them every day for over 30 years to make migraine pain disappear. It works equally well for other headaches, and pain anywhere along the spinal cord except for trauma.
One in every six people suffers from migraines. That’s over a billion people worldwide. You can use these techniques to reduce or eliminate their suffering using only your bare hands.
These techniques are gentle, and pose no risk. Therefore, there are no contraindications. Note that anyone that cannot comfortably sit in the position shown may simply sit with feet on the floor but the half-lotus seated posture is preferable when possible.
Original music by Michael Ducharme (piano) and Greg Leduc (guitar, vocals).
Gluten, found in all grains, can cause cancer, asthma, depression, thyroid disease, arthritis, migraines, skin inflammation, and approximately 190 other diseases. Symptoms often disappear quickly if gluten is stopped completely. Source: Dr Peter Osborne
The prolamine (gluten) fraction of proteins in grains
All grains have gluten, not just the specific grains that have traditionally been blamed for celiac disease. Grains are the seeds of grass, and that seed contains a starchy endosperm, which contains gluten. Here is a partial list of grains, along with the specific type of prolamine that it contains. The percentage given is the ratio of the specific prolamine to the total protein content of that grain.

“Gluten-free” Packaged Foods
Many packages that are labeled “gluten free” actually do contain gluten. In most of these cases, the manufacturer of the product has replaced one grain, such as wheat, for another grain, perhaps rice, so the net effect was to substitute one gluten for another while perhaps reducing the percentage of gluten without eliminating it altogether. This may provide a solution for some people, if they were sensitive to wheat gluten (gliadin) but not rice gluten (orzenin). But others are sensitive to all gluten, and therefore will not get relief until they eliminate all grains from their diet.
Gluten Allergy vs. Gluten Intolerance vs. Gluten Sensitivity
With gluten allergy, the immune system responds to the presence of gluten, and produces an unwanted effect, like pain or inflammation. The term gluten intolerance is used to describe individuals that are not able to digest gluten where there is no apparent reaction from the immune system. The term “gluten sensitivity” is ambiguous. It can be used to describe individuals that do not do well with gluten but are unsure of whether they are allergic to gluten or are simply unable to digest it.
Conditions that may be Directly Caused by Gluten Sensitivity (Allergy or Intolerance)
An allergic reaction to gluten, or an ability to digest it, could be the primary direct cause of any of the following diseases. But these diseases may be caused by other factors as well, so it is crucial that you consult your doctor so as to rule in or out gluten sensitivity before you can know the exact cause of the disease. If you have any of the following conditions, it would be wise to suspect that gluten may be a causal factor until your doctor has helped you rule it out: Angina pectoris (chest pain/pressure), anorexia, immunoglobulinopathies, antiphospholipid syndrome, anxiety, apathy, apthous ulcers and canker sores, aortic vasculitis, arthritis (enteropathis, psoriatic, rheumatoid, juvenile rheumatoid), abdominal pain and distention, spontaneous abortion, addison’s disease, ADD/ADHD, alopecia (hair loss), anemis (iron deficiency, folate deficiency, B-12 deficiency, B-6 deficiency, Vitamin C deficiency, Vitamin e deficiency, Copper deficiency*), ataxia, atherosclerosis, autism and other learning disorders, cholangitis (gall bladder), dermatitis herpetiformis, autoimmune hepatitis, polyglandular syndrome, thyroiditis (hypothyroidism), bitot’s spots, blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid), abnormal blurry vision, bone pain, bone fractures, cachexia, bronchiectasis, bronchoalveolitis, adenocarcinoma of the intestine, small cell esophageal cancer, melanoma, asthma, cardiomegaly, cardiomyopathy, cataracts, cerebral perfusion abnormalities, cheilosis, chorea, coagulation abnormalities, chron’s disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic constipation, coronary artery disease, diarrhea, lymphoma, cutaneous vasculitis, cystic fibrosis, delayed puberty, failure to thrive, dementia, depression, dermatomyositis, diabetes mellitus type I, Down syndrome, dysmenorrhea, dysgeusia, duodenal erosions, edema, eczema, dysphasia, epilepsy, spontaneous nose bleeds, erythema nodosum, CFS, growth retardation, mental retardation, secondary food allergy response, blood in the stool, gastric bloating, grave’s disease, bleeding gums, hair loss, heartburn, H pylori infection, hives, NAFL, malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies, infertility, hypogonadism, hypoglycemia, hypospenism, thrombocytopenia, impotence, osteoporosis, insomnia, IBS, keratomalacia, lactose intolerance, loss of smell, non-hodgkin lymphoma, early menopause, migraine headache, multiple sclerosis, muscle wasting, myopathy, obesity, osteomalacia, osteopenia, parathyroid carcinoma, pancreatic insufficiency, polymytosis, PMS, biliary cirrhosis, psoriasis, dermatitis, sjogren’s syndrome, short stature, scleroderma, steatorrhea, spina bifida, SLE, tremors, parkinson’s disease, glossitis, vitiligo, vomiting, vaginitis, UTI (urinary tract infections), PCOS.
